Woodland Wonders 3rd-25th September 2011

I will be invigilating on 10th September 2011 in the afternoon.

Désirée’s artworks in this exhibition explore the notion of symbiosis. It is the symbiosis between the natural and the artificial, the mortal and the immortal. The found pieces of wood are all disconnected from the tree they once belonged to. They are dead. But there is still energy moving around as in Circuit where the impression of a circulatory system running through the wood is evoked. The dead has come alive. The solid appears to be flowing, the organic fatal and the degeneration process vital.

The opening times for the Cork Street Open Exhibition are from 10am to 6pm, Thursday August 4-12th.

Daytime admission is free and a percentage of all sales goes directly to Papyrus - Prevention of Young Suicide.
